The journey begins!

The day that I decided to start the journey to Ireland on my bike my parents were not home. Unusually for them they had stayed away for the night at an extended family event. They arrived the morning that I was due to leave and it was clear that all was not well! That is another story though so let’s not get distracted!

My father offered to drive me a few miles before I got on the bike and started pedalling. a few miles became quite a lot of miles and before I knew it we were in Oxford. At that point, I unloaded my bike and belongings, thanked my father for his help, hugged him and set off.

At that time there was no AI. No access to Chat GPT.  Here is the route that I took. It took a lot of mental endurance, physical fitness and ambition to complete the journey to Fishguard to board the ferry to Rosslare in Ireland.

Oxford to Fishguard via the Wye Valley

1. Oxford to Reading (Approx. 40 miles)

2. Reading to Bath (Approx. 65 miles)

3. Bath to Chepstow (Wye Valley Entrance) (Approx. 40 miles)

4. Chepstow to Hereford (Through the Wye Valley) (Approx. 40 miles)5. Hereford to Carmarthen (Approx. 85 miles)

6. Carmarthen to Fishguard (Approx. 50 miles)
